When Telehealth Can Be a Convenient First Step

Telehealth can make it easier to speak with a healthcare provider when leaving home is inconvenient or when a hands-on examination is not immediately necessary. EZMED offers virtual visits for eligible patients in Maryland using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. A provider can review symptoms, discuss medical history, recommend next steps, and determine whether an in-person examination or testing is needed.

15 Concerns That May Be Appropriate for Telehealth

Depending on the patient's symptoms and clinical circumstances, virtual care may be useful for cold and flu-like symptoms, cough, sore throat, sinus symptoms, seasonal allergies, minor rashes, pink eye, headaches, mild gastrointestinal symptoms, certain urinary symptoms, medication questions, appropriate prescription refills, blood-pressure follow-up, diabetes follow-up, and review of laboratory results or treatment progress. Telehealth is not a guarantee that every condition can be diagnosed or treated remotely; the provider may recommend in-person care.

When You May Need In-Person Care

Some symptoms require a physical examination, laboratory testing, imaging, EKG, IV treatment, or a procedure. Severe or potentially life-threatening symptoms should not be managed as a routine telehealth visit. Patients with chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, major trauma, uncontrolled bleeding, stroke-like symptoms, or another medical emergency should seek emergency care immediately.
